Joan Colomer

We can’t say that his vocation appeared late, because at 27, nothing can be considered late, everything is about to start. But his decision was not so initial and absolute like the one of his two brothers, Fermi and Josep. Joan made the Catalan professorship and works now as a teacher in Girona, where he lives. Once he had finished this specialization, he decided to take the paintbrushes that have been around him all his life. Four years ago, he decided to combine his classes with the painting, and after this short time, we can say that his professionalism in painting has become the same as the one in teaching.

Curiously, Joan Colomer has married a girl whose family name is the same as the one of his twin brother’s wife, Dolors Domenech, so we foresee many Colomers Domenech who perhaps will find it difficult to distinguish one from the other if they follow the way started by Josep Colomer, the father.

Talking about Joan’s painting, we think that it can represent a synthesis of the technique and landscape vision of the family. Joan’s colors are darker than Fermi’s work, but not so dark as his father’s or Josep’s, his brother. The skies don’t have the importance they have in Fermi’s work, but more than they have in Josep’s work. He doesn’t concentrate so much in details and we can perceive a touch of nervousness that we don’t see in the others. His landscapes are straight, fresh, that is why they lose a bit of detail, of precision.
