Ramon Vila

"I have always liked art, especially painting . . . I consider myself a very, sensitive person and I appreciate all types of art, be it sculptures, poetry, music . . . My habits are very demanding, therefore, I dedicate most of my day to looking, observing, and painting the landscape in the light of different hours and seasons. I think that the lovers of my work are fascinated with the color, the light and the strong strokes that renders the grand realism of the final result."

No artistic talent had manifested itself in the Estudes family in Olot, Spain, until the birth of Ramon Villa on July 3, 1958. As a young boy he quickly displayed his special talent through his drawings and paintings. During his childhood his intense curiosity and love of art developed his powers of observations and his artistic aptitude so that by the age of 15 he was accepted into the Escuela de Bellas Artes (School of Fine Arts) where he studied for three years. It was during those three years, where part of his graduation requirements involved studying under several Catalan masters of contemporary landscapes, that his passion for landscapes fully materialized. Upon completing his studies, he moved to Barcelona where he enrolled at the Escuela Superior de Arte de Barcelona (Barcelona Superior School of Art) for two years and it was at this time that he had his first solo exhibition.

Estudes' works can be found in many private, cooperate, and public collections in Spain and other foreign countries. Among the honors he has accumulated for his paintings are First Place Artistic Landscape Painting in 1998, First Place Fast Painting Lerida in 1996, and First Place Contemporary Painting of Madrid in 1990. Estudes' participation in major group exhibitions, including Art Expo in Barcelona, Art Antibes in Nice, France, and 10 Painters in New York, has secured his international reputation as his paintings capture the eye of art lovers the world over.
